How to enable SSL and HTTPS for your website

Check certificate coverage, enable HTTPS, and resolve common mixed-content warnings.

Quick answer

Check certificate coverage, enable HTTPS, and resolve common mixed-content warnings.

Start with the checks below. Each step explains what to look for and what to try next.

Check the certificate first

In cPanel, locate SSL/TLS Status, SSL/TLS, or another certificate management interface available for your account. Verify that your domain and any required subdomains are covered by a valid certificate.

Enable HTTPS

  1. Make sure your domain points to the correct server.
  2. Issue or install a certificate using the tools supported by your plan.
  3. Open your domain with https:// and check for a secure connection.
  4. Only after HTTPS works, enable the hosting panel’s HTTPS redirect option or a correctly configured redirect.

Fix mixed content

Mixed content happens when an HTTPS page still requests resources over HTTP. Update internal image, stylesheet, script and canonical URLs to HTTPS. On WordPress, review Site Address settings and update old URLs carefully with a backed-up migration tool.

If issuance fails

Check DNS, domain validation and any conflicting proxy/CDN settings. Some certificate types, wildcard coverage and installations require separate purchases or specific validation steps.

Guidance may vary by plan, control panel version and enabled features. Review the settings available to your account before changing live services.
