Encryption for data traveling between a browser and a website.
SSL/TLS is one important part of a secure site—not a substitute for good hosting and maintenance.

For a single website, a DV certificate can often provide the HTTPS encryption you need. First check whether your hosting includes free SSL.
See certificate options →Often enough for a blog, brochure site or small business website. It can provide encrypted HTTPS connections when supported and managed correctly.
Check: hosting compatibility, coverage, automatic renewal and installation.
May make sense when you need a particular certificate authority, organizational validation, commercial support terms or domain coverage not available in your current setup.
Check: exact validation, warranty terms, installation help and reissuance responsibilities.
The key difference: Both can encrypt browser traffic. Choose paid SSL when a verified requirement for validation, certificate coverage or service justifies the cost.
These are the typical stages. LumoHosting's exact level of assistance should be confirmed before you place an order.
Select domain coverage and complete the certificate authority's required verification.
Issue the certificate, deploy it on the correct server, and configure HTTPS redirects where appropriate.
Check browser connections, expiry monitoring and the reissuance process throughout the subscription.

An SSL certificate—more precisely, a TLS certificate—lets browsers establish an encrypted HTTPS connection with your website. It helps protect information in transit, including login details and form submissions. It does not remove malware or guarantee that a business is trustworthy.
The cost depends on the certificate authority, domain coverage, validation level, subscription period and whether installation or support is included. LumoHosting currently displays indicative annual prices starting at ₹699, based on the supplied product schedule. Confirm the exact certificate, applicable GST, renewal pricing and final quotation before buying.
Yes. Many web hosts include free DV SSL through AutoSSL or Let’s Encrypt. A correctly installed free certificate can provide the same modern HTTPS encryption as a paid DV certificate. Check whether your hosting already includes one before spending money.
Both can encrypt browser-to-server traffic. Paid SSL may offer a particular certificate authority, organization validation, warranty terms, support or multi-domain options—but those benefits depend on the exact product. Paid SSL does not automatically mean stronger encryption or higher Google rankings.
For a single small-business website, a domain-validated SSL certificate is often sufficient. Start by checking whether your hosting already provides HTTPS. Choose paid DV, OV or other coverage only when a specific buyer, compliance process, certificate authority or support requirement justifies it.
DV verifies control of a domain. OV also verifies organization details, while EV involves more extensive organization identity checks. All can enable secure HTTPS. Modern browsers generally do not show an EV-specific green address bar, so do not buy EV expecting a special browser badge.
Not always. A certificate can include both names, but you must check the Subject Alternative Names (SANs) or product coverage before purchase. An SSL certificate for example.in alone should not be assumed to cover www.example.in automatically.
A certificate for *.example.in generally covers one level of subdomains, such as shop.example.in and mail.example.in. It does not automatically cover example.in itself or deeper names such as a.b.example.in unless those names are also covered. Verify exact SAN coverage and your CA’s validation method.
Multi-domain SSL uses a certificate containing multiple specifically listed hostnames. These may belong to different domains, such as example.in and brand.in. The number of included domains and any extra-name charges depend on the product, so confirm the SAN allowance before purchasing.
Usually, yes, if you control the domain and can use the hosting platform’s certificate tools. cPanel often supports AutoSSL and certificate installation; WordPress also needs correct HTTPS settings and mixed-content checks. VPS owners may need to configure their web server and automate renewal or reissuance.
Install a valid certificate first, test HTTPS pages, then configure suitable HTTP-to-HTTPS redirects. Check internal links, canonical URLs, sitemaps, images and scripts for mixed content. Keep your website and email DNS settings intact; an SSL change does not normally require moving your website to another host.
HTTPS is a useful website security foundation and is part of Google’s broader ranking systems, but buying a premium certificate does not guarantee better rankings, AI citations or recommendations. Accurate content, useful pages, reliable service and a technically sound website remain important.
Publicly trusted TLS certificates issued from 15 March 2026 through 14 March 2027 have a maximum validity of 200 days under CA/Browser Forum requirements. An annual purchase term may remain one year, but the issued certificate must be replaced or reissued before it expires. Ask how the seller handles that process.
The assistance available can vary by certificate and hosting setup. Before paying, ask which steps are included: domain validation, installation, HTTPS checks, reissuance, monitoring and help with errors. Do not assume that annual payment automatically includes hands-on installation or continuous management.
Common causes include an expired or mismatched certificate, incomplete intermediate-certificate setup, an HTTP page, or mixed-content resources. Check the exact browser warning and the hostname being visited before making changes. Some errors require your hosting administrator or certificate provider to intervene.
Have your exact domain names, hosting or control-panel details, and a way to complete domain-control validation ready. OV and EV applications may also need legal organization details and documentation. Confirm the product’s domain allowance, certificate authority, charges and renewal terms before placing an order.
No. SSL/TLS encrypts data in transit. It does not stop vulnerable plugins, compromised passwords, phishing pages or malicious code. Keep software updated, use strong authentication, maintain backups and apply appropriate server-side security protections.
