Set up WordPress, choose HTTPS, and secure the new website before publishing.
Start with the checks below. Each step explains what to look for and what to try next.
Before installation
Confirm that your domain points to the correct hosting service and that SSL is active or ready to enable. Back up any existing website because installing into an occupied directory can overwrite files.
Use an available WordPress installer
- Open cPanel and look for a WordPress installer such as WordPress Manager or an app installer, if enabled on your plan.
- Choose the domain, protocol (
https://where SSL is working), and desired installation path. - Leave the directory field empty if WordPress should appear at the root domain.
- Set a strong admin username and unique password, then start installation.
- Visit your website and
/wp-admin/to confirm the installation.
Immediately after installing
Update WordPress, themes and plugins, configure backups, enable HTTPS, and remove unused themes and plugins. Use a trusted theme rather than installing several page builders just to test.
If there is no installer
You can install WordPress manually using official WordPress instructions and a database created in cPanel. Menu names vary by hosting configuration.
Guidance may vary by plan, control panel version and enabled features. Review the settings available to your account before changing live services.
